I got my maverick 4 years ago, and it has been a rock. However, it has always had a problem with burning oil. Well last year, through my stupidity mind you, I ended up blowing the engine. I got a remanufactured one for a good price, and had some buddies drop it in for me. Well they did, and the engine runs fine, but they didn't line up the torque converter right, so it would move. We took it off, fixed THAT problem, lined it back up and now the car doesn't have any power. The battery is hot, we changed the starter but nothing goes. Another funny issue is now the ALT light is always on, even without the key in. My best guess is that when we slid the drive shaft back in we pulled some wire, or something got grounded... but I have no idea. My request is this, does anyone know what we might have done, or how to fix it? Or does someone know a place that I could get an electrical schematic for this 1975 Maverick, 302 V8 engine? Or a repair manual or something??? I am no mechanic, but I can't let my car sit any longer, and I can't afford to take it to a shop. Any help you could offer would be much appreciated. Thanks
replace the wire from the solinoid to the starter had the exact same problem i went through every other possiblity that was my last hope sure enought it was it.
