On topic: How hard is it to remove a floor shift automatic and linkage? Off topic: How hard is it to remove a A arm? Some how on my 2000 kia sophia the a arm snapped, doing so it finished off my CV joint and almost killed me
removing an a arm is pretty easy on a mav, couldnt tell you about a kia.... what part of the floor shift linkage are you trying to remove? are you putting something else in its place or relocating to column?
to the on topic question: if you are talking about going junkyardin', it should be fairly easy. the shifter bezel is mounted to the shifter plate which in turn is mounted to the floor, both with four screws each. the linkage is mounted with a screw on one and with a clotter pin on the other side. both should be easy to get out. if you want to get the linkage part out of the transmission, this is harder. you have to drop the oil pan and the valve body of the transmission for that.

Removing the shifter and linkage is easy. You have to remember the shift arm out of the transmission is different. I have heard you can take yours and flip it 180ยบ and make it work. I have also heard you cant. Since I know nothing about automatics, I would drop the pan and valve body and grab the shift shaft/arm out of the same car, providing its a c4 like yours.
That would work. but the shifter was rusted so bad the screws stripped. But i came home to the shifter we've been waitin on! So today we were able to get it in and now all i have to do is make a bracket and hope it works. In our drawing it works, we'll see what happens tomorrow!
