It all began from my dad telling me stories about his 65 shoebox nova with a 327 and how much power was at his feet, and beating kids off the line, everyone knows those stories. I began loving older classy cars and started searching what kind of car i wanted. I would spend hours just looking at older cars then stumbed upon a picture of a maverick and loved the bodylines, sporty quick look to it. Later that day i asked my buddy who collects old cars. He then started telling me about this 74 comet sitting up only half hour away from me so i went searching. found her and baught it the next day for $400 After about 5 months of spending my money on stupid things ( More like wasting a lot) but i learned. Learned just about as much as i could. now i can do pretty much anything that comes to mind, like build my own engine, guage cluster, do some upholstery work, body work, etc. She was a 74 comet, straight six, 3 on the tree, big bumpers. Now 74 mavcom? v8 3 on the floor. small bumpers Ive done everthing on her my self or with a little help from either my dad or one of the brothers but shes getting there. Shes going to be on the road hopefully this weekend running like she should be for the first time in 24 years
Thanks guys, couldnt have done anything without this forum. Probly would have listen to my dad and just went and got a chevy
some words of encouragement, i was testing mine at the strip and there was two of the tiny 60 model novas tuning also. even with me driving bad and not getting traction with street tires i was side by side all the way down every time with them. both of them were SBC and they trailered theirs in and out..... shouldnt take much to be faster then them, maybe some drag tires.... Welcome aboard.
lol, well about the comet hood.. It was in an accident 24 years ago, guy i bought it from had a doner maverick. Took a fender, bumper and hood off of it. When i went back to buy the maverick not even two weeks later he scraped it. I was b.s, it was nice and all there. Didnt have a chance to see what engine it had. Pretty sure when i went back just a few months ago ( so its been a year) he was wearing the same shirt with the same nasty stain on it.. Gotta love the hillbilies out side of the town And that is encouragment cause my car might be pushing more horses than my dads was
