Well i bought ANOTHER maverick its a 2 dr 1970 and it seems to have been built in St.Thomas. Can somebody tell me what size engine it has and what number it came off the line? 0X911214598
1970 St. Thomas Assembly Plant Your 5th digit is incorrect U - 170 CID T - 200 CID L - 250 CID BTW all 1970's are 2 door
Well thats what the lady told me she read it to me off the title and off the car i told her it wasnt right thats the reason i was needing your guys help i thought maybe canada had different things and she said yes thats what it says i havent picked the car up im going to in a few hours.
Well first she said it was a 270 six cylinder then she asked her dad again and she said it is a 250 so i just wanted to make sure im not to worried.
the original title i received on my 2 dr also had a 1 as the 7th digit instead of a T. it was a typo on the original title. caused me major problems having a title company fix it so i could register it. the seller could have a similar typo on her title. look at the vin and title closely.
When I was going through the trouble getting a tag on my 60 Falcon after it sat for 5 years they sent the county police to my house to run the numbers. He wrote down 5 instead of S (144 ci). He was also sticking by his guns than my car was altered because the VIN number wasn't on top of the dash. I had to school him on older cars with a shop manual.
So what happened because thats what happened to this car its a 200 T and it looks like a very very faint t like a 1
i ended up going to BROADWAY TITLE (on the web) and they fixed it. i paid $150 and they "bought" the car (on paper).and then sold it back to me with a notorized bill of sale from alabama. they handle all the paperwork and send you all needed paperwork to register the car in your state with the correct vin #. took about 3-4 weeks to get it straight. the DMV in florida refused to register the car because of the original typo but after the BROADWAY fix there was no problems. the guys on this site hooked me up with BROADWAY TITLE. they saved me just scrapping the car.
Like I said...county police came to my house to confirm the vin. Didn't cost a dime. If you show him/her that this digit suppose to be a letter then they will know it's a typo and they can correct the mistake. Might wanna call them to see what loop you need to be jumping through. Might have to take it up with the state patrol http://www.fordmaverick.info/articles/decode/index.html
jeff's route may be cheaper but call and confirm. florida didn't want to accept the trooper afidavit. they were a MAJOR PITA. good luck
