New Member with '71 Mercury Comet

    Please Help me! I'm new to my Comet and i love it, i've been slowly restoring it but i seem to be having a LOT of problems finding people/places with parts that are the actual Comet parts and not the Maverick parts. I'm not new to mechanics, just to my Comet, i bought it about two years ago when i saw an add for it in the local paper selling it for $600.00, i paid $500.00 for it as the guy who sold it to me was going to demolition derby it because his son didnt want it anymore. It has a great running Straight 6 ENG in it, and some few cosmetic blemishes, that im working on. Does anyone know of a great site for parts for the Comet?:cry: My baby would appreciate the help ;)

    Welcome to the board. Post on here, in the parts wanted section, what parts you are looking for and you'll probably have luck. Other than a few body parts (front end), and taillights, most parts are interchangable.

    Don Graham is right-listen to him. The hood, grill, front bumper and taillights, along with emblems are the only differences in Comets and Mavericks.
    Fenders, doors, seats, dashes and pads, ALL mechanical parts in the drivetrain are the same exact parts that were used in the Mavericks.
