OK guys, new to the forum. Have liked the Comet since I was a kid and Dad hauled the trailer across the country using his Comet 302.

I have located a local 74 Comet GT and am hoping to get some advice as to what to look for and what you guys think of the vehicle itself. Dude wants $1500

Claims it is solid overall and in running/drivable condition.

Any tips or opinions are greatly appreciated. My specialty is more old Brit bikes these days but am looking to enter the old American car club!

If it is rusting from the outside its not that solid. I would go $1000 it also depends how much work and money you wanna spend.

    :Welcome:!

I agree with everyone else, a little too much rust there for $1500. See how much you can get him down on it.

If he is firm on $1500 tell him he will have it for a while.

There is one other option. This guy wants $2000 and is about 4 hours away.

302 with floor shift and buckets. Claims lady driven and 60k miles. Not so keen on 4 dr but looks damn nice

Welcome, B-Stone. Just to let you know, ALOT of the people on this site really know these cars inside and out. The advise here is usually incredibly sound and you will not find a more friendly forum on the net. Where are you from? I think there are members here....including myself , that would probably even go look at the car with you to give a better opinion on it. Is it a 302 V8 car? Once again Welcome.

Yup, you could get a floor shift in the 4-doors as well. :thumbs2:

I am up in Alberta. I sent an email to the guy with the 4 door. Hopefully he can get some pics of the interior and it is even still available.

I have been lurking around for a bit. No doubt the guys here know their sh*t! Based on what I have already seen, I will write off the red 2 dr and look around some more!

The green 76 is listed as a V-8
