These are the details on it. Do you think i could build it for cheaper??

"I have a freshly built 302/5.0 that was built last year for my 65 mustang. The block is an 87 roller block. It was professionally built for street strip use. It is still in car and will not come out until it is sold. Come see hear and feel it. It has Mahle flat top forged pistons, custom bullet cam, 1 wire alternator. Mallory distributor, endurashine edelbrock performer rpm air gap intake. Worked ported polished e7 heads. Complete rebuild. Will sell from oil pan to intake, with out with out front end accessories. Planning to build a 351w. Runs 8.7 and 7.7 in the 1/8th"

Kinda steep for a motor with iron heads. If it had aluminum heads, might be a decent price.

I would talk to engine builder. If it was recent build an quality work, It's a good deal in my book. Mahle pistons are some good pistons. Was it balanced?

Go through some catalogs an check prices, call some machine shops for the block work, an on the heads, talk to the port guy an see if he knows how much they flow.

You have to decide if the guy selling is honest. If all is as stated,,, you ain't gonna come close to building this engine,, but if you build it you will have new an know for sure what you have! Good Luck!

That engine is too good for a Maverick.

This was what I was thinking while reading. :)

Actually, it sounds like a fair deal if you need a motor right now and don't want the hassle of building one up - not too mention the time savings of pre-built.

Fresh to me means "just done" and ready to break in. If he is making passes at the strip already, it's not fresh, low time maybe but not fresh.

    Caveat Emptor ..... :burnout:

since it says run 8.7 to 7.7 in the 1/8 do you think it might have had nitrous on it at one time. That could also be the reason for the forged pistons

It would be worth 1500 if it was yellow or a chev

Well if it was yellow and a chev, it would be worth closer to $2000
