What's the best way to clean out a fuel tank that's been sitting for a couple of years? Previous owner removed it from the car and I want to clean the inside before I put it back in. It looks like it might only be varnish from old gas, not too much rust (I hope). Anyone done it before? Thanks.

I took mine to a radiator shop and let them clean it out and fix a couple of pin holes. I think it was around $25 for the cleaning and fix.

I shoulda done that. I like the way mine came out, but I have heard that sometimes the liner doesn't take and peels away. It does look good, but havn't tried it yet.

I'll have to look up my old radiator shop buddy and see if that an option, That would be great.

If not, what do ya'll think about blasting abrasive in there to slide around and get it clean? I've put a chain in there and got some good results, but I'd like to get the nooks and crannies.

The MEK seems to done a good job on mine in the nooks and crannies. I would use rocks before particles. I guess you could rinse it for a while to make sure it all comes out. Get a couple of filters too.
