I have been tryin to get my beltline and glass run in for 5 hours now with no luck. No matter what I do the beltline does not seem to fit. Is the rounded piece the inner our outer? Do you put the glass run in first or last? What I thought was going to be an easy job has turned into a nightmare. Please help...
Put the glass run in before the window fuzzies. What is the problem you are having??? Round fuzzie goes inside.
Once again, what he said. What exactly doesnt seem to fit. Not trying to be a wise guy but my install on the AK parts took about 15 minutes per door on re-assembly. The only thing I wasnt happy with is the way the glass run fits up in the corners. The fuzzies are a bit tight but I didnt need to modify them.
Sounds like a plan. Like I said mine were tight. Yours could be a bit long like Daves were. The doors are probably all a bit different and the strips arent likely all the exact same length. I can guarantee they arent based on my experience with the rest of the AK rubbers. I also found that the inside fuzzy is very tight against the window for a bit. I broke my damn window handle trying to get it closed in the cold weather. Its OK now after it crushes a bit. I gave the window run a good dose of silicone spray. Before I installed the glass on the other door I sprayed a rag with silicone spray and ran it between the fuzzies to give them a bit of lube. It helped with the window effort and saved my other window crank.
Most of the time you will have to trim the fuzzies to fit up to the channel run strips. Not an uncommon problem.Just takes a little time and a sharp razor blade/exacto knife. Daren...the best way to get the channel run strips to fit the corner is to cut a notch (pie cut)in em so they make the 90 deg bend.
I thought about doing that but I was afraid to cut my new strips. Besides you havent seen me do woodwork. I dont do so well with cutting angles. Measure 10 times, cut once is my motto.
I installed my AK glass runs with the help of my wife. Took us about 15 minutes per door also. I used silicone to help slide them in. I have to agree on the corner fit...
