i got quite a bit of useful info this morning. thank you again. i was leaning toward pulling the rear for the 9 inch that i have untill you mentioned the lug pattern difference. and that would've been quite a waste of time. Thanks again.

Yea, Im not positive what your wagon uses, but all the other reasons would steer me clear of swapping it. Especially since your going to need it back one day for the wagon.

alright, we got a battery in it, and replaced one of the connectors temproarily cuz one fell off. well, we got juice to the starter, and it'll click like it used to. but then it stops clicking but you can still hear it running. just sounds like an electric motor. also, sometimes theres a buzzing coming from over in the glovebox area. it seems to be something loose, cause when cory closed the passenger door it stopped, but then he opened and closed it again and it started back up. i thought it might be the wasps in the door jamb, but it only happens when the key is in the ignition, even when the key is in the "lock" position. we jumped to both sides of the solenoid (not at the same time :) ) and it had the same effect both times, and it did the same thing when we didn't jump it at all. Thanks for all the help so far guys:tiphat:

Might be a stuck solenoid... That could explain the buzzing noise. But it would be near the solenoid not underneat the dash.

The starter also might be bad, it may spin but not engage. (electric motor sound)

the buzzing under the glovebox is separate. the starter turns and you can hear it turning down there where the starter is. I don't think the solenoid is the problem, because we jumped to the other side and bypassed it... same thing.

if its spinning but not engaging then the starter is bad. unless your ring gear is off?

SOunds like the starter to me also. Even if it does pass the test it can be bad too.

I guess next time hes over we'll yank it off. (i don't like being under a vehicle without someone there in case something goes wrong.) Thanks for all the help. hopefully this is all it will need to get it up and running good enough to take on the road.

Just like you, I'm just being a lazy goon at the moment. When my next week off comes up, I will be getting my hands dirty. Just trying to collect all the parts so I know what I will have to do.

    But yeah, go do something...
