For the people that are using a MSD 6AL and a MSD distributor what coil are you using, in previous set ups I used the Accel super coil but want to get away from the bulkiness of it and was just wondering if the MSD blaster 2 coil is sufficient for good spark.
If you would've said something yesterday when you were here. I could've showed you the Comet. I'm using the MSD distributor with the 6A MSD box. I'm using the Master blaster 2 coil....
I used to have the MSD Distributor with vacuum advance, 6a box and Blaster II coil on the F100 when it had the 351W in it. I also had the timing control where you could adjust the initial timing going down the road. Worked very well. I sold it all with the Windsor when I went to a 460. I now run run a Duraspark with HEI 4 pin module and Accel coil and it runs about as well. I have burnt up one coil though. Not sure why. The MSD will sure punch you back against the wall when you get in it's way though, I'll tell you that. lol clint
Thanks for the info guys, I just didnt know if the blaster would be hot enough. Guess I better get one of them, then some spark plug wires and a torque converter and I think my buying spree will be over. Hopefully
Is there any advantage to using the msd blaster 2 with what I have. I am running the duraspark with a http://www.jegs.com/i/MSD/121/8414/10002/-1 cap. I have ford racing wires also.
I have used a Blaster 2 and also a stock duraspark coil , hard to tell the difference between the two,it seemed to run the same.
I ran an Accel SuperStock coil(looks like a stocker, only yellow)and cracked it during an intense head gasket swap at FFW in Atlanta, found an old stock coil & used it.Worked fine, couldn't tell the difference.Oh yea,I was running the MSD 6AL box at that time.
I believe I've read somewhere that either Accel or MSD specifically mentions the Accel SuperStock coil as one not to use with a capacitive discharge box... As for me, I'm using a no-name HEI coil with my MSD 6A.
