the intake manifold is stuck on there! i cant even get it to budge! anybody got any tips or tricks to getting it off? i was gonna try jamie miles idea but i can find my rubber mallet.
gently pry against a casting nub on the intake and the cylinder head. don't pry anywhere a gasket seals.
Remove the bolts first Take a putty knife and insert it between the block and intake manifold to cut the seal. Then do like mercgt73 said and pry up on the intake in the corner. You can also have an assistant place upward pressure on the manifold using the thermostat housing as a handle.
woooooooooow i got it off. i'm exhausted! i just pulled the intake all by myself and then to top it off i had to lift it out of the engine bay myself....
Quit your whining and get it done , weekends here and you cant drive it until you get it back together
Or removing and reinstalling a cylinder head on a 250 with it still in the car. You'd think I would have learned my lesson the first time... but I've done it twice now.
How about an 89 Jaguar Vanden plas(XJ-6) That big giant twin cam head is all aluminum and still weighs allmost 90 pounds...THAT was a fun one i wont do again without a hoist...LOL...
