I plan on doing a rear disk swap soon and was woundering how you guys hooked up the flexable brake hoses used for the calipers to the existing hard lines? I was thinking of doing the crown victoria swap... I'm still using the origenal 8" so I think thats the easiest rear disk swap atleast according to my research. Or how else did you hook up the brake lines?

I figured I'd ask sents when I did the front end I had to use some brass adapters to go from my hard lines to the front disk hoses.

    Thank you.

I was woundering if all the explorer brakes use the drum style e-brake? and do they all have the same flange mount spacing? I've seen on ebay a kit for both small bearing (8" and 9") and large bearing (9") axle housings. The small bearing kit uses crown victoria brake system with drum style e-brake and the large bearing kit uses the explorer brake system and it appears to have a drum style e-brake... all the pictures on here that I've seen including the thread linked above doesn't show a drum style e-brake... It's a $20 differance between the kits and I'm woundering which would be the better option.
Also I've been woundering how you guys get such good deals on parts??? I goto a salvage yard (Phoenix, Tempe, Mesa, Maricopa, etc. area Arizona) and they want to charge me over $200 for the brake parts required to do a conversion... is that the going rate? thanks, sorry for carring on...

It's funny I been wondering why you guys get screwed buying parts from a junkyard. We can get a complete rear end with disc brakes for $125 or complete rear end w/drums for $80. http://www.pullapart.com/Pricing/Main.aspx?letter=&loc=3&#pricelist

You may want to take a short drive over to so cal to get your parts bring your tools and visit some of your local self service junk yards . The last time I did a convertion I paid less than 125.00 for all the parts I needed to due the job .

The rubber hoses I used were from a t bird super coupe and were not metric . Pic in my gallery on page 6

It would be nice if there were those type of deals in arizona... I wouldn't be able to take time off of work to pull parts from a salvage yard.
Mavdog71, what type of brakes are those your using? I haven't seen a ford brake setup that had a integrated ebrake in the caliper instead of the drum type ebrake. btw I like the mods on your car.

So far I've found arizona salvage yard to be way to expensive... I called around a little and found even the self service yards to charge between $150 to $250 for just the brake setup for a explorer... I can just goto ebay and get these parts for about that or less ($160 to $180) and have it shipped to my door... still debating between the crown vic and explorer though... is there any spacers needed, either between the backing plate and axle plate or between the axle center and rotor, etc... I sometimes wished I lived in the midwest the yards over there seem to have better deals... and the people in the yards seem more helpful... thanks.

My rear brake set up is home made . I used toyota priva mini van front rotors and T bird super coupe calipers with home made calipers supports . It hook a lot of machine work on the supports and axles to make it fit under 14" wheels ..
