its funny, the people who bash on the maverick dont even recognise them once we lower them or give them a nice paint job. its really easy to take the plane jane versions of the mav. that people identify with and make them look really nice with some simple mods. i get alot of people looking at my car trying to figure out what it is. they will think that its a maverick but are not sure be cause they are liking what they see but remeber that they dont like mavericks.
"Drive a Maverick and you will find out why Ford sold them so cheap"... That's funny but it is true....
But what I don't get is "Drive a Maverick & Drive a Nova" What's the BIG difference. We as Maverick owners accept that our stock cars were cheap why can't Nova owners accept it too? Oh I forgot it's because a "Nova" is a Chevy.
Im a die hard Ford guy ... but The GM Platforms 1970 and up Novas Camaros/ Unibodys were a little more rigid better built and deffintly a better suspension , Ford built the Platform for the Falcon/mustang/Maverick pretty cheaply but they did the job. The Ford Granada starting in 1975 was built a little heavier ... and a heavier car overall ... i like the driveability of a Granada.
That's what always gets me...many 60's Mustangs (I know, not all) were not all that different from Mavericks in styling, drivetrain and suspension yet Mavericks get put on the lists of the "worst cars ever made" and whatnot. To each his own I guess.
Mavericks tend to be a bit noisier than 60s Mustangs and Falcons too for some reason... i had a 1969 Mach 1... my dad has a 1964 Falcon both of wich are quieter than my Mavericks.... our cars need a lot of Dynamat to drown out road Noise and vibration from the style of motor mounts used. * Also Road and Tracks test Maverick from 1969 was Noted as the test car having what they called "Road Rumble" ... but we gotta love our cars for what for what they are
Either way ya gotta love Mavericks and Comets and it is true that most people think that a untouched Maverick / Comet is a totally different car from a restored Maverick / Comet with some sporty touches. I myself have had people say to me, "We used to have a Comet before and it never looked like that". The difference between us and them is we can see the lines in a Maverick and see what it can become while someone else will only see a cheap old econobox.
look at all those stupid hot headed high on their crappy and slow-par horse, they cant even tell a good car. maybe if they spent less time working on those mass produced engines and actually drove a maverick / comet maybe they would see why we like them so much.... but oh well them hating our cars gives us the ability to buy them cheap and when we blow their doors off they will never expect that to happen by that little grandmas car....
