I recently decided to put a new gasket on my 250 straight six as it has leaked for years, but only a little bit, so it became real easy to not change the gasket. Now i never lift my hood at the shows cause , well it's a straight 6, and in the engine compartment it is about as original as you can get, untouched since 1975 except wires and rotor and spark plugs. So you can imagine just how dirty the engine and compartment are. After i got the valve cover off and before i replaced the gasket i decided that i should paint the valve cover Ford blue before i put it back on my engine. I'll post the pictures below. When it is all said and done i love the last picture with my Filthy engine bay and a clean bright Ford blue valve cover sitting there. Thanks Farrah!!!!
It kinda sticks out don't it?By the way that's the boss and my Daughter waxing the hood while it's off the Comet. Thanks Farrah!!!!
Yeah i must say i do like the lighter blue then what was originally on the valve cover, i really was not to worried about the colour if it was not the right shade of Ford blue. I kind of like the too bright colour factor. Thanks Farrah !!!!
it wont stay too bright... once you run the engine a while... engine paint alaways tends to fade a bit
the valve cover looks clean... here are some pics. of Kellys engine...he came by at 7:30 one morning on his way home from work. he was picking up a 170 head i had for him. we popped the hood and was looking at his (all original) engine and for some strange reason i suggested we put it on... 4 hrs. later he was heading home... ..."ain't nothing but a thing."... ......
Nice ! now you have to degreese the rest of the motor, mask it off and paint the rest. Then be proud to open your hood at shows....
That is the plain, the only thing that may change that is if i end up putting a 302 in the Comet instead, the boys are willing to help big time, now i need to decide.
