you guys make some valad points.but im making a mavcom.com front clip and mav rear with those sweet 67 impala tail lights and a 73 stripe kit. if it was a factory original gt i wouldent even be having this conversation.
No forced air but lots of cool air=performance gain. You could get the cooler air plumbed into the rad support though and save the hood. Mine is functional but I bought it that way. I think I would relocate the battery and plumb the air cleaner to the rad support for cool air.
hhhmmm thats a cool idea cut two holes in the support and duct air from them to a bat wing air cleaner with tubes just like the old racing cyclones!
If I cut one I would make it like darrens comet shown above. That looks real nice and looks like it came from the factory that way.
The black hood that is on my car ,was on a tunnel rammed Maverick back in the seventies. The owner worked at our local Ford dealership and when he installed the Tunnel ram on his 72 Grabber ,he Ordered a BRAND NEW flat Maverick hood from Ford. When it arrived at the dealership he promptly took it out of the carton ... AND CUT A BIG `OL HOLE in it ! When I bought the whole car from him wrecked (he had bought it new)in 1983, He gave me the Hood with it and it still had factory black primer on it... Never was painted!
