you could probably buy a cheap timing light from harbor freight or someone else and do it cheaper. once you do it you'll see how easy it really is.
Well There is no one home they all went to England for a wedding! and my Father is in CA. For some kinda race with his camero and nova.. and i need to get it done fast and the only thing i can think of is taking it to pepboys today after work!! and i need my car for tomrrow morning!
on the harmonic balancer there are timing degree marks. mark the 0 with white paint or figure what degree you want the timing at and mark it there. place the clips of the timing light, pos to pos post of the battery, neg to a neg engine ground. then put the clip that goes around the spark plug wire on the #1 spark plug wire. loosen the bolt that holds the distributor just enough to move the distributor by hand. start the engine. point the timing light at the timing pointer. make sure the timing light is flashing. turn the distributor by hand until the mark lines up with the pointer. that's all there is to it. if you buy a timing light there should be directions with it. pretty easy once you've done it. good luck. make sure the wires are not in the way of the fan
