my 72 comet has disc brakes all around. i haven't got a clue which car they came off, though.

the front spindles cary the following casting numbers:
driver side - D8AA, the line below starts with an oval ford logo and the number 179
passenger side: 5D8AA, the line below starts with an oval ford logo and the number 175
driver side caliper has the number 6204, passenger side 6210

the back has a 9 inch rear
the only numbers i have found on the calipers are on the side facing out - 549 and below a B

    pictures are here:

any help would be greatly appreciated - the brake system needs to be redone and i don't know which parts i need.

cool, this helps a lot. i guess choosing replacement parts and the correct master cylinder/proportioning valve will be fairly easy.

i dont know about over there, but replacements parts here can be ordered thru any parts house. the front brake stuff is fairly cheap, but the rear disc brake stuff (ie. rotors, calipers, brake hoes) can get expensive. you can use the factory maverick master cylinder, but it would be wise to use the versailles 4 wheel disc prop valve if you can find one (or maybe the previous owner already installed it ). needless to say, you have a good setup (y)

    thanks :)

the previous owner used a non-ford master cylinder and a chrysler prop valve. so i'll start from scratch there.

that's why i'll rethink keeping the versailles disc brakes. i read somewhere on here that they can be swapped to the lighter sn95 mustang brakes. might be an option for me. that's also because i have to rebuild the parking brake as well.

parts can get expensive over here, that's true. but i found that rockauto will ship to germany, so i can get a lot of stuff from there.
