what are differences between the 2? i have the trans behind my 200 and was wondering if the i6 trans would hold up after a performance rebuild.or do i need to find a v8 trans to build?thanks

if ur going to rebuild it, that trans will be fine. it'll just be a "core" and by the time ur done, it'll be up to spec :yup:

all of the "hard" part are pretty much the same with a few exceptions:
The servo (front) may be smaller - you want "C", "H", or "A" for most builds with the "A" servo being good to about 350 hp with normal pressures.
There is likely fewer clutches in the clutch drums with a C4 from a 200 inch six - the drums are not made to handle more so you would have to buy some used drums or have the drums you have machined for a higher snap-ring groove so it will hold more clutches.
The valve body may be restricted differently and have a slower boost pressure rise so you will definitely want to install at least a TransGo 40-2 kit in the valve or have more extensive mods done by a competent builder.

You could take the servo and drums from the pan fill case (or use all the internals and servo) in the case fill case.
Make sure the build dates on both transmissions are 72 or later and that the parts are compatible before starting. ( early and late cases use some different parts that do not mix and 70 is all to itself for the most part.)

i dont know the exact year of either transmission yet one is in the maverick and the other is in my 66 f100,i am not sure its the original trans though.
i would like to use the broader 500hp kit- http://www.broaderperformance.com/C4%20trans%20and%20parts.htm

i would also like to "rollerize" all of the thrust washers. i have lathes and mills and all that fun stuff but i cant find any detail on how to machine the parts for the roller bearings.anyone have any?

i would like to do as much as i can myself.

When you order the parts from Broader Performance mention that you want to rollerize your C4 and ask if he has the specs.

You might have a screw-in modulator......
All of the internal parts are pretty much the same - you may have either one of the two valve bodies available. This only becomes important when modifications are made to improve shifts. Jay will probably have it covered.
