I hold the brake down and press the gas and it gets to a point and sounds like it is vapor locking.I changed the sparkpulgs and wires a week ago and this is the first time i actuly put them to the test.the gas hose is not agenst the block or getting hot so i think it is my distrebuter??? i checked my vacume and fuel lines no holes maybe my car is not getting enough air..i have holes in my exuast is that good?
any heat in the engine compartment is never good, as far as vapor locking do you have the steel line that runs up the front of the engine along the water pump? if you feel it is vapor locking put a couple clothes pins on the fuel line right in front of the motor. i know it sounds strange but it does work. but something you may want to check is your fuel pump, it may be going bad and not producing enough pressure at higher rpms.
i have a ruber hose that runs along side of my engine then over the distributor. i have an out bord elec fuel pum with 4 or 6 psi depends on the volts it gets. (i barly press the gas very little gas i rump it more gas flows) if that makes any sense.. i jsut changed the fuelpump a month ago today.. here is a pic of how my engine is set up at this moment
well it isnt vapor locking then, electric fuel pumps dont vapor lock, are your lines new all the way back to your tank? was it an original I-6 car? If so i believe the fuel line that run back to the tank is smaller in diameter than the v-8 cars............. guys....a little help here?
There not Very new but there new like maybe a 2 year's old.at a part of the line its a meatle tub wich is preaty small but i was able to burn out when a couple of weeks ago but thats when i had the old sparkpulg wires? I think that is the problem somthing is wrong with my sparkpulgs, dist, carb somthing??
I don't think you can hear a car vapor-locking. Sounds like another problem. What sound is it making?
If yopu think you are vapor locking, it may not be from heat under the hood. The gas tank is vented through the metal lines to the cannister under the hood, which most people remove. Unfortunately, when they remive it they also put a cap on the line. Since the gas cap is not vented, this will lead to vapor lock. Try pulling the gas cap off and see if it makes a difference. If it doesn't, you are probably not vapor locking.

its making like a puffing nose like its hard to breath or somthing? i just cleaned the dist and that is not the problem.. i dont know what to do now this sucks!!!
I would suggest rechecking your timing and make sure you did not get the wires wrong remember there is the old 302 firing order and the new.
