3 inch pipes over the axle?

what is with the big pipe alls i got is the stock pipe on my 69.5 and no muffler it sound better than my friends camero with duel 3 inch straight pipe and glass packs from headers back

so in my opinion leave pipe stock and remove muflers

 

Cool! I like it behind the wheel. I always thought behind the wheel let you hear a little more exhaust note than out the back. I know some people don't like that - but a finely tuned V8 has been music to my ears for as long as I can remember - who needs a radio?

A few years ago a member at the Roundup had pipes and no mufflers on his car and it had to be one of the loudest cars I ever heard. Sounded good but way too loud for the street in my opinion.

 

glass packs suck.......comaros suck.......big pipes are for people with horsepower, not chebbies..........anything I missed?????

Maverick Man you are lucky!
Not everybody has a muffler man that can do that type of work.
I know, I don't!
I tried every muffler shop in my area when I had my car on the road and NOT ONE of them could do 3 inch over the axles, so I got ugly 2 1/2.

The car just keeps getting better and looks GREAT!
Beautiful job and my hats off to your muffler person, he/she is a true credit to the craft.

I had my over the axles redone today, after puttin in the 9" rear a pumpkin bolt was beatin my pipe on a heavy bump.
The guy that does my exhaust work said he could easily have done a 3" if I wanted it. Must be because its a 70' that makes it so easy.
I told him if it changed the tune of the car one bit don't even think about it.
The one compliment I get more than any other is the way it sounds
"Man watcha runnin in that thing?"

 

I doubt this is the same one cause you said it was 2002 but it could be... I chopped it up a bit cause it wouldnt fit. They used Full 3" from the headers down.

 

Dennis(mavaholic got to ride in my car last year at the round-up.......I think he has a pretty good ideal what loud is.......
