hey guys its tim, a few things. can you guys look at the blue 71 grabber on ebay and tell me your honest opinion. as far as what you think and what a fair price would be. also can you guys tell me what is available as far as sheet metal for these cars. can you buy new trunk sections, drop offs, fenders, patch panels. i guess i need to know in case i decide to redo the red 71 grabber that i just bought. finaly i have had alot of emailes and questions about the 71 grabber that i bought and i need to clearify a few things. i made the car sound alot worse then what it is, i did this so that if it sells the person who gets it will be happy and not disapointed as i was. i figure if i make it sound worse then it is then the exspectations wont be so high. that way who ever gets the car will be happy and not disapointed as i was. all of the nieghbors think the car is great and they even said i stole it for 5000.00 but they dont build cars and i do. if you want to see pics of the car its listed on ebay. i will see if the wife can help me load pics on here im not to good at that stuff. tim

Other than quarter panel skins, that's all that is available aftermarket, then beyond that, your looking for NOS sheet metal.
AS for the car on Ebay, it's not a factory bucket seat car, those are Mustang seats in it, it's had a massive paint job at some point, they even painted the trunk latch...it's missing a few things, like the fan shroud, nice car, but I'm sure it's been molested to some extent.
Why not look for on on the west coast? they are cheaper, even with the shipping.

hello if i just wanted to inform you that there are some cheap deals on the sf bay area and Sacramento craigslist. theres a 72 some where up here for 1000 straight but no tranny, and it still has the sixer.

That blue car looks nice but I bet it goes for a chunk of change. Even it needs some work if you look for it. Depends how fussy you want to be. Also have to be careful with paint on top of that factory paint. It doesnt like having our newer solvent based paints over it. Our guys wouldnt even paint mine over the original paint. Short of a bit in the door jams and that was very little by the time i took the DA to them. Good luck, it took me almost 2 years to find one I liked. Its fun looking though.

All the stripes are wrong on that blue car. Like really wrong in my opinion. Looks like a nice enough car...but the stripes would really bug me.

You really got me thinking now. Went back and had a close look. Only thing I noticed that I can question is how the stripe wraps around into the wheel well. I looks a bit odd. I honestly dont know if it does that factory or not. I thought the factory stripe narrows and continues around the wheel opening.Fess up Craig. Whats not right??

Just something I noticed the dash pad is a cover, the shifter is not correct and all the Grabbers I have seen have had deluxe door panels.

    Not bad things

I noticed they were painted but didnt think that was a bad thing. Good point and yes its a big deal if your looking for a proper resto or original. I think the painted stripes are good from a maintenance and longevity point. Our painter wants to do mine but I kind of like the applique look. Maybe if he does it for free.;) Boy are you guys fussy.:)

well i have to tell you guys i guess i am more about how clean a car is. i do like cars that have original rust free metal. but it would not bother me if a car had sheet metal replaced as long as it was done properly. that red chevelle that i have in the pics with the maverick has a complete after market front end and i can make the after market sheet metal fit so much better then NOS sheet metal. now i make this statement with the chevelle after market sheet metal that is made by dynacorn. i have gone round and round with the NOS GM BOYS and i have put them in thier place evertime. the new metal for the chevelles is as heavy and thick as the NOS stuff and the aftermarket steel inner fender wells are thicker and heavier gauge then original GM AND NOS. when someone argues with me i invite them to the shop and let them judge for themselves. as far as stripe kits i preffer painted ones under clear they just look better. the decals have thier place and in some cases look better. i guess thats a personal prefrence. i wish someone made all the sheet metal for the mavericks because if they did i would start restoring them for people. i could restore mavericks way cheaper then chevelles. at least with the maverick the initial purchase price is resonable. junk chevelles bring stupid money.

But......restored Mavericks are worth nowhere near what a restored Chevelle is......so that is why parts will never be reporduced for a Maverick. And if the parts were produced....the prices would be a lot higher than Chevelle parts.

Yep, even though our little cars impress all of us and we know what they are capable of they just dont have a market. They dont get the respect we would like. I dont expect it though. They were never a muscle car and dont have that image like a Chevelle. They were supposed to be an ugly little economy car that would appeal to the fuel saving masses. There was one for sale north of here forever. Asking 7900 if I remember right. Sounded like a good car but 8 grand for a Maverick. Not very popular around here. I thought about it but the drivetrain was a bit too wild for what i wanted.

this is true, i agree with you. but i do believe that the chevelles will some day be so hard to find that cars like the maverick and other cars will become the new hot toys to build. when that happens the maverick will be more affordable to build and own, maybee not buy and sell, but to own. that would be great.
