My 74 Comet has the dreaded Yellow box. I have searched the threads. Is there a for sure way to delete the box? las I saw someone said put the two wires together at the seatbelt switch. what is the 3rd wire in that harness? My wires going to the seat belts seem to have a 2 wire plug and a 1 wire plug. See photos below.

Someone also listed in the interchangeability list that 71-73 Mustangs used the same heater/AC box I need new foam and a lot of work sorting mine out. can someone confirm that the mustang boxes are exact replacements?

I don't know why it's "Dreaded"?? I've never had any issues with my 74, I cut the wires under the seats years ago.

well unhooking them will do the same thing right? But the idea is to get rid of the boxes under the dash and hood. I'd like to cut those under seat wires way up under the dash and seal them off but I don't remember what the 3rd wire went to.

Can anyone confirm that the heater/ac boxes are the same from the mustangs something like 67-73 as listed in the interchangeabily section? I question this because the mustang houses sell different heater box rebuild kits for some of those years.

I have looked at the Mustang heater boxes. While parts of them look the same, in my opinion they are different.

I used the Mustang foam ring/cowl seal, and sticky one side HVAC foam tape. I bought a Mustang kit, and ended up not using any of it.
