Well engine is in and after several bouts with defective starters we finally got one that worked. Primed engine for oil no problems, brang number one cylinder to tdc,set dizzy to number one position, check. fuel to carb via pump, good. engine firing order set correct with number one plug position and working counter clock wise. check. No spark! Question... Do we need to have a ground link between block and chassy for it to have spark? seems to me after some thought it would to properly ground electrical components mounted on fender wells, etc. Any advice? It maybe I have a problem at the module. We just switched from the green coded to blue and plugged it in. Is there possible some wire changes that need to be made there? I know this is a easy solve, but this rookie is turning to the mav gods for advice. What do you think? Mitch
yup, it's a module problem. either it's no good, wrong one or u have it wired wrong. other than that, you should be good to go. a chassis ground is an added bonus but wont keep it from firing. check ur wiring and install the blue grommet module.... should be good to go
Probably a module problem. but check easy stuff first. put a test lamp on the coil. crank. does it flash? does it light. No flash but light, probably module. no light you got a power problem. check that ground in the distributor. its the ground for the module. Ground from engine to chassis prevents chassis grounded components from using cooling system to get back to ground. Which can corrode the engine and electro-plate it to the radiator or vise vera.
It might not be the problem but do not over look the grounds. I would add a ground from each head to the chassis at least. I don't think you can go wrong with too many grounds. Look at this schematic and see if that is what you have wired. http://www.mustangsteve.com/conversion.html Ought to be pretty close though I have not used this one. Between corrosion and all of the rubber in the engine and tranny mounts another ground is not a bad idea. clint
going to shop armed with a test light and more knowlege thanks guys let you know what the outcome is later tonite. Thanks Mitch
