Well I went an dun did it installed the relays what a differance. Did some voltage numbers with the engine off 8.7 volts at the light with engine running at 1000 rpms 9.8 volt at the light on low beam these readings before installing the relays . Now after installing the relays on both low and high beam sides with the engine off 11.8 volt at the light on low beam with the running at 1000 rpms 14.2 volts at the light on low beam . Now I have light that will burn the ba$$ off a brass monkey ... I didn't run new wires to the light ( only a .02 voltage drop between light ) as shown in diagram in ford truck article but for only 30.00 dollars and 3 hrs work WELL worth it . Jay
Now you will have to use your low beams when you pass the big reflective signs on the interstate at night or you will see blue spots floating around in front of you. Other than that you will enjoy seeing where you're going. This and delay wipers is one of the best upgrades I done on my Falcon. I will be doing the same on my Maverick soon.
Gene THE diagram I used is on the ford truck site but I didn't run new wires to the light. There is the one I used http//www.ford-trucks,com.article/idx/8/039/article/whiter_whites_brighter_brights.html I got two 30 amp bosch relays 1 for low beam 1 for high beam . terminal # 86 is ground terminal # 87 is to head light terminal # 30 is 12 volt fuse hot terminal # 85 is from the switch I mounted the relays on the radiator core support on the driver side near the d/s sport light . Remove the wire loom covering from the head light loom just inside of the core support . 1 Grounded the relays to head light grounding screw on the drivers side . 2 Terminal # 30 is 12 v 30 amp fuse hot to starter solnoid . 3 The low beam wire in the head light loom is red with a black strip cut that wire the light side of that wire goes to terminal # 87 the other side if that wire goes to terminal # 85. The low beam side is finished . For the high beam side repeat step 1&2 then find high beam wire LT green with a black strip cut that wire the light side of that wire goes to terminal # 87 on the high beam relay and the other side of that wire goes to terminal # 85 . The high beam side is finished . Jay

they arent the greatest in a snow storm... wait who drives their maverick in the snow.... but they work pretty good the rest of the time.
You should write a tech article this is a mod alot of guys can do inexpensively and sounds pretty simple. Besides I'll know where to get it when we do our mav! Good job,great mod. Mitch
Earl and i did this mod about 3 yrs. ago... when i had my new wiring installed we removed it...i should have kept it and someone else could have used it.. we made a small wiring harness that pluged into the old headlight plugs and had new plugs for the lights. we were thinking that if anything happened to the relays, we could just plug the stock plugs back in... ...Frank...:Handshake
