    Hello All,

I recently picked up a 9" center chunk with brand new gears and supposed posi unit. The posi unit does not look like the standard Ford I am accustomed to. This unit has a pin in the center and what looks to be 4 yellow springs as well.

Can anyone out there tell me what this is? I have pics of the unit if you would like to see them.

    Thanks Again!

    Bryant,

I'm thinking this is a "Detroit Locker" unit... I just seen one online but the picture don't show the top of the hat. This unit don't look like the Auburn one on their website.

I appreciate your quick response and look forward to hearing from more people out there on this also.

that site doesnt have aftermarket carriers on it. it could be a detroit, but the mention 4 yellow springs sounds like an aubrn. do you have a picture of the spings?

A Richmond Lock-Rite also has 4 springs in it BUT in the picture the part where the bolts go that hold the 2 halves together are not stock FORD I don't think. Looks aftermarket.
