    JPS' Progress Topic

Stripped everything down, sanded, primed, and painted...although some lines are not even, I'll be getting vinyl pin striping to make an even line all the way across...I also have to paint the trim rings around the clusters. (if anyone has a decent looking black steering wheel theyre willing to part with let me know, Id like to keep the big steering wheel look)

I have the lower half still in the garage, working on the fuse box door because it was broken off when I bought the car...any suggestions you pros would like to offer to a new guy as far as to what else I could do to make the dash look better? (Im also working on the dash pad, should be done soon hopefully))

Wow! Me likey that color against the blue. I was thinking about doing the same thing on my 72. I don't like the stock color scheme on the bezel. The striping will add more dimension to the scheme.

At first I liked the idea and started, halfway through I was thinking to myself Oh no I messed it up", but I went ahead and finished it, turned out better then I thought it would.

Im kind of ...meh... on it but I think it'll grow on me and I'll be happy I did it.

I just need to get the stupid dash pad finished :(

I think your doing a good job. Keep the pace so you can get back behind the wheel. I envy your progress.

Thanks for the compliments, its hearing that that makes me want to finish this thing...lol

I was going through my old pics last night and found a pic from the day I brought it home...July 5th, 2008...Its come a long way in under a year, especially with what little I have invested in it.

So far, this has been what Ive spent:

    $200 - Price of car
    $130 - Rear tires
    $50 - Paint
    $50 - Bondo/Fiberglass
    $100 - Tune-up parts
    $110 - Rear seal replacement
    ---------------------
    $640 Total

I like seeing the silver. I am doing a hammared silver on mine actualy. I see yours and I feel I need to get off my butt. I already have all I need. Paint, dash pad, lower tray, sport wheel... just been too lazy and doing other tasks.

Hopefully Ill have the body work done soon, after that itll be painted gloss black with a heavy metallic finish, trying to figure out the best way to implement silver into a 2-tone paint job...stripes are too cliche in my opinion...but Im thinking Im going to end up dealing with either dual silver stripes or dual flat black stripes(see below).

The Honda Chic license plate was from my wifes prelude, I snagged them and stuck it on the maverick for the ride home....looking back I probably caught more eyes with that license plate then if I had just left it off.

Get off your butt Gene, I wanna see it, I like the black/silver look. :p
