Has anyone ever built there own fuel cell/tank? I want to build one and was looking for Tech-info on subject.Steel would be easier/cheaper than alum., but what do I need to know about construction methods? Its basicly just a tank with a filler hole and pick up in it....right?? any web sites on subject?
Im not sure how to direct you in the right direction. But I have a fuel cell already ready to go. It's aluminum. If you want it PM me and we can work something out really cheap
I was looking to make one for custom fit for a project car.Want to use oem fuel sender(Ford).Needs to hold at least 25gal.Can you e-mail me with demensions/price? FoMoDave@aol
This one isn't a 25 gallon for sure.. but I'll go get it out of storage tomorrow and mesaure it for you
you also need a vent on it. if your going to a nhra track it will need a roll over valve in the vent line.
First thing you need to know is what ever you make it probably will not hold up in a rear end collision. 25 gal maybe hard to achieve the tanks I have made (3) are around 18-19 gal and they are pretty big. Tammy's and Ken's mount in the stock location. Mine is a threw floor like early mustangs. I do weld in baffles I also make them to use stock sending units. The each have bottom drains too. I put the tank vent in the filler neck. The only reason I have made them is so they will clear certain things. Exhaust for Tammy's and Ken's, center exit exhaust and side fill for mine. I do not recommend this because of safety issues
