Warmed up enough last weekend to get the 70 Grabber project out and pressure wash off the 24 years of storage dust. First time the car has moved under its own power since about 1985 ........ :bananaman Took it for a quick spin up and down the side road to see how well it ran and shifted, but those 40 year old polyglas tires are like square Flintstone wheels. Back into the shop again - but at least she's clean now!
Nice to see another Ol Gal being resurrected... I really like the car's style too!... colour, stripes, sports mirrors and the OEM rings and caps look great.
Are you looking at the tire tracks in the water? No tar here yet - in fact look at the picture with the snowmobile trailer in it - that is still a bit of snow pile there ..........
The car only has about 12,600 miles on it - so I will freshen it up as a survivor - 100% factory look. The interior is perfect - almost showroom condition. Almost every part on this car is the original factory part - brakes, plug wires, hoses - you name it. It was driven for 15 years of Chicago winters and then parked in a garage since about 1985, so it does need a lot of work on the undercarraige and engine compartment. Very solid yet but a lot of surface rust on everything that was in the salt. There is also some body damage where somebody backed into the drivers door and rear quarter. Overall - a very decent platform to work with for a northern car. Except for the collision damage, no body and frame parts need to be replaced, just cleaned and repainted.
