I'd like to mount the original style Eliminator scoop on both my Comets but it doesn't seem to have enough clearance - unless I go for the taller Shelby-Boss styles. Someone posted pics and dimensions of the original Comet scoop here a while back. I saved the images but lost the thread.

It's not that I'm lazy, but it's still winter here... and I wanted sample measurements instead of "guestimates" on my two cars... I haven't bought air filters yet because of the clearance question.

For those of you who have mounted 2 barrels on sixes, and 4 barrels on V-8's, how is your hood clearance with air filters sticking through the hood?
Can you still use the original or 're-per-duc'shun' hood scoop?

I'd like mine to be functional; the V-8 has Edelbrock intake and Demon carb which just seems to make contact with the hood - I had to re-mount and straighten both hood hinges because they were mangled but my hood is still sitting too low. Looks like even a low profile air pan will stick up 1" but the scoop is less than an inch at the back.

And cutting an off-set hole for the 2bbl on the six... will the Comet scoop still cover the hole?

    Does anyone have precise measurements?

    Thanks!

Whiskey, this is what I'm running. I don't have any measurements but if you look closely at the pics, the velocity stack sits right in the middle of the scoop. I have had no problems with forcing air down its throat or rain getting in it at all. It's an Edelbrock Torker "twisted" intake and a Holley 4160 on top.
