For those that asked here is a copy of my order sheet showing V8 requires disc brakes. Also is the back side which breaks the packages down to show what is included in each one and exclusions as well.

Huh, that's cool! I'll have to find the 74 order sheets I have and see what they say. My first Maverick was a 74 Grabber, V-8, with drum brakes..I wonder if it was some sorta mid year change? (I'll see when my first car was built)

It might have been dropped in mid year. My car was special ordered on 9-29-73, my 9th birthday, (I know, showing my age), built in October of 73 and delivered in November. Maybe it was dropped in later on.
All of the paperwork on this car, being a special ordered car, and sold to me by the original owner was too big of a draw for me to pass on. I have the original window sticker, brown glue and all, the warranty card, the handwritten order sheet showing MSRP AND dealer cost of car and individual options and final sale price with the 4% tax added in. Only item I do not have is the build sheet. It is not under any of the seats, or the carpet for that matter. Only place I have not looked is behind the instrument cluster and the behind the glove box. Any other place that FORD might have put it I do not have a clue. Do special order cars not have them included?

    Questions, questions, etc.

Did you note in the 3rd column of options, under other options at the bottom, letter "J" SKI RACK?? Got to be under the RARE list for sure!

My Maverick was built 10/'73 it has disc brakes. My orginal Maverick I ordered in 5/'74 had disc brakes. I herd back in the day, disc brakes was a added option because of the extra weight from the larger bumpers. It was easyer to stop with disc brakes. Power assist was not available in 1974.

Yeah, the power assist did not come about until the 75 model year and I believe front drums were dropped in the 76 line.

Look under the carpet as well as under the floor insulation. I have also found them stuffed under the springs of the rear seat, and also tucked in behind the side seat panels. Every car HAD one....but not every car GOT one.

My '74 Grabber had two build sheets. One was up in the springs of the bench seat originally, and then I found a second one when I pulled the carpet out, it was taped to the passenger front floor board. It was pretty much destroyed unfortunately, but was intact enough to see that it was a second identical copy of the nice one I have from under the seat.

When my dad took his '71 Comet GT apart, he found not only the one for his car, but one for another Comet as well! The VIN for the other car was only a couple of numbers off from his, but it had a 250 I6 instead of a 302 like his.

I have a bunch of build sheets, they came with some stuff I bought off Ebay, a few years ago. I should make a list of the serial numbers and see if we can match any of them up.
I have them for both my cars, the one for my 74 is perfect, it was under the sound proofing, the one for my 73 was under the front seat, in the springs.

I have had the entire interior out save the dash assembly and instrument cluster and the headliner. I still have my original carpet, but it was removed from the car in its entirety along with the soundproofing, no build sheet there. I then sprayed with an upholstery dye to re-blue it, and then reinstalled it after putting down fatmat. Seats were a no go as well. I was hoping someone might have found one curled up in the dash somewhere, I have found them in GM cars there, but was not sure if FORD did that as well.

Thanks for the input guys and gals!

Looks like somebody messed up when they ordered you car....They selected the floor shift, which requires bucket seats, but also marked the all vinyl bench in blue! So did it get the buckets required by the order slip, or the bench?

Nope, no mess up and no buckets. Only have to have buckets with the automatic, stick can be bench or buckets with the floor shift.
