I seem to have an exhaust leak in the Mav but cannot see anything obvious. The pipe does end under the vehicle however there are no rust holes the exhaust would be going through. I am also looking for the high idle solenoid any ideas where to find?

if your car has a high idle solonoid it will be next to the throttle lever on the carb. it will have a plunger that will push on the throttle lever.
to find a exhast leak take a pice of hose and put it to your ear and run the other end around the exhast system. when you get near and over the exhast leak you will clearly hear it.

Thanks for the help but I should have been more clear on both questions. I need to find a high idle solenoid, the one on the throttle is broken off where the wire hooks up. As for the exhaust leak, what I meant to say is the exhaust fumes are really bad around and in the vehicle. What are the possible entry points into the vehicle and how can I get rid of the exhaust smell? Sorry I wasn't more clear before.

high idle solenoid: you can buy them new or get one off a parts car. (Mike got me one).

exhaust fumes: check the...trunk pan/floorpan for holes...

    hope this helps...

to help seal against the exhast geting inside the car you need to pull the seats, carpet and interior panels. on my car where the floor pan meet the side panels between the spot welds i could see gaps where exhast could come through. get some seam sealer or use rtv sealant and fill those seams. check your entire floor pan for leaks either from rust holes or gaps in the seams. then new seals for the doors and trunk.
also the tune of the motor is probly to rich causing exsessive fumes.
