How about a recap of what you had and what you did to engine? Cam breakin,,, was the engine run at 2-2500 rpm for twenty minutes in the driveway?

most aftermarket fans dont move very much air. if your using pushers only infront of the radiator then you are only cooling the two circles that the fans cover and thats it. the stock radiator can barely keep up with a stock 302 so you should really look into up gradeing that and get a taurus or escort elec fan. lots of people are running them on here and you can find them in the junk yards for really cheap.

Are the fans turning the right direction?

Could be a bad t'stat. New parts can still fail. My car had an overheating problem, turned out to be a bad head gasket. Check for exhaust gas in the water. Any good shop can check for this. Good luck!

Yep, that would do it. Not ridiculous - just be glad you found the problem :thumbs2:

At the Roundup in 2006 we went to a cruise in after dinner on Saturday night. When leaving I was sitting in traffic and saw my temperature climbing. Turned around and took some back roads so I could get some airflow and cool the car down. Got back to the hotel and discovered that my ground came loose for the fan.:slap:

I bought a Spal racing fan to cool my Cleveland and now I'm thinking about running an indicator light to show a completed circuit to the fan. I know there is a way to get the light to come on only when the circuit fails. I just have to do a little research.

What do you mean a stock 302 rad is just bearly sufficiant to cool a V8. I have a stock , copper rad and have no problems keeping my engine cool. I run a 195 stat, shroud, 7 blade steel fan. Never gets above 200 , even when outside temp is 105, or at the drag strip. investing 2-300 for a aluminim rad is not always the answer. the big 3 have spent millions on research and I won't argue with them when it comes to cooling. Half the time some run a wrong stat, of high flow pump. not rite either. Jm:2cents:

Since you did all that work, the cooling system may have air in it and may need to be "burped". Had to do it to mine then it ran fine.
