I just ordered my torque converter. The specs say it was balanced. So I ordered the flex plate at 0 oz. nuetral balance. That was the right move.....right? Someone had previously gave me a link to Mustang Central C4 info and I think I am on the right track. Let me know. Thanks
What year is your engine? You need to match the flywheel balance with whats correct for the engine you have.
that means it runs ..true...not wobbly. like balancing a wheel or driveshaft. like Dave said...the balance is in the motor...(flexplate and harmonic balancer)...to the crank... ...Frank...:Handshake
Thanks I called summit and changed the flexplate to the 28 oz, so i saved $14 thanks, it is still getting shipped tomorrow so I can have fun this weekend. You guys are pretty sure I needed the 28oz with a balanced torque converter?
All the early 302's had a 28 ounce flexplate. I posted that web site. All 302's are externally balanced.
Torque converters are always zero balanced - just like clutch pressure plates. They are a replacement item and the zero balance mans that you don't have to rebalance your engine if you have to replace them. The flex plate and flywheels have an off-set balance to help balance the crank and sould be balanced with the crank in any performance engine.
