Haven't posted in a while but the old car bug has bit me again and I've been doing a mental project list for a few weeks.

Fell free to flame me for a dumb noob question but what would be a fair price for a solid Maverick.....

    '70 thru '72
No structural rust and no metal patchwork needed (little surface blemishes are fine)
complete and running (no engine preference, motor would be comming out anyway)
Fair interior at least, (complete and relitavely clean)

Basically, looking for a solid foundation for a nice project car and I'm in no hurry. My goal is to have a car by next winter.

What would be a ballpark fair price? Taking into account I'm not in a hurry to pick one up.

I have a price in my head from doing research. I just want too see what you all say

    Thanks!

EDIT: yes I missed the "e" in the title. Whoops!

$1000-$1800 for a running, good solid mav. if it had a v8 and a good body somewhere around $2000

I plan on spending $3500-$5000 for the car. It sounds like I should be able to find a pretty decent example, no?

The less cosmetic work it needs the better. I've never had the paitents or skill for bodywork and I can't weld to save my life.

Turning wrenches is what makes me happy and is what I'm good at. Its relaxing :)

That price range should definitely get you a nice car.

Considering what Quality Body & Paint work cost these days, your better off to spend a little more for the best car you can afford. Lots of nice Mavericks/Comets on the left coast, even if you have to pay to have a car shipped. I'll never buy a non-California to restore ever again (they don't know how good they have it)

Check craigslist.com in So.Cal areas. There have been a lot in the $500-$3000 range that are pretty rust free and a few were V8's

I have a 1976 Maverick Stallion, and 85 More Mavericks and Comets in Inventory.
I spent almost $2,000 on purchasing the White Maverick in my Images,, It has 28K actual miles,, and was in good shape,, Now I have a Body shop,, and that car is being done slow and correct,, and I bet I have close to
$4,000. it it and thats me doing the work,, and its prob, gonna end up getting another $3k to finish it.

So like the guys say,,, If you can spend 1 or 2 thousand more and not have alot to do,,, Your going to be further ahead in the Long run,,:thumbs2:
