I picked up a couple of 8" rear ends this weekend, one from a 73 & the other a 75. I didnt take the brake drums and when I did some searching for new ones I was told there is a 1.75" and 2" drum. Does this go from year to year or different models? I sent the seller an email to measure the old ones if he hasnt tossed them yet. Hopefully he still has them. If he doesnt, I dont know what to do.

    if it's a 10" drum,it's 2",as far as I know only the 9" drum was 1 3/4"

There may also be a difference in drums if the front was disc. The hub on discs is larger. If the car came with front disc, then the rear axle hubs are larger to match the disc hub. So the center opening in the drum is larger.

    Drum size

If you still have the shoes, just measure them across the shoes. If not measure the backing plate at the groove diameter and post it. Backiong plate for a 10" set total dia should be 10 1/4" while the 9" will be around 9 1/4".

The rears were stripped when I bought them. Luckily the previous owner still had the pads and drums. They are both 10"drums.
