Hi, I'm in Northern Virginia near DC. Just bought a 63 Comet wagon and looking to learn more about the car. I also own a 67 Cougar XR7 and a 64 Mercury Park Lane convertible, and a 62 Shasta "canned ham" camper. I have a patient wife but she says I have to get rid of the non-running 69 Colony Park (429 2v) sitting in the driveway. Looking for info on tailgates for the Comet, it's the only part of the body I need to replace and I want to confirm that 60 to 63 Comet and Falcon tailgates are essentially the same sheet metal - anyone certain about that? I need to find one with little or no rust out at the base of the tailgate, mine looks like swiss cheese. Glad to find this forum!

Hey, welcome to the club. I am a 65 comet wagon owner myself. we are very rare LOL. I did some research and I believe 60-63 comet wagon tailgates are the same. there is a website called www.autokrafters.com I found many rare parts for my wagon here. there is a ton of parts for your wagon also. when you get on there site you can download the entire catalog and look at everything write then. good luck
