ive seen two different types of vinyl tops on the 4dr models. some have the full vinyl top that includes the entire top and the trim goes along the top of the quarter and meets the back glass trim. i have also seen it in a halo-style top, only covering the top with trim parrell to the drip rail molding.

is there something special between yrs vs. tops on these cars? because ive seen both style tops on the same year models, but have seen the full top more often than the halo style. so, anyone else noticed this phenominom?

I have never seen a 4-door with a factory "halo" vinyl top.

    I had a 1976 4-door with a halo top. Very rare.

    4 Door Vinyl tops

 I'm glad you brought this up, I'd never seen the "Halo Top" until I found & joined this sight I was a teen when Mavericks came out, my 2nd car was a 72 Comet GT w/302 & glass packs that I bought in 1978. I do think the halo top is cool looking even when relaced with paint. Is it possible the halo top was a dealer and area location option? East of the Mississippi River maybe.:coffee:

    Halo tops

:) That's wild through out the 70's and early 80's it seemed every 7th car was a then a dumpy maverick with the back end sagging badly and rusting.
