so i probably run into the most problems out of anyone. im putting a 351w into my 71 grabber, i have the engine bolted in but the tranny is to far to the passenger side and it hits the cross member. i have the correct frame mounts and they are on the right way, i bought 302 mounts from rock auto, new tranny mount, and the double hump member from autotraders. the tranny is a c4. i have no clue what i did wrong and the local shop wants $89 an hour to fix it. please any help would be great

Is the bellhousing tight to the engine all the way around? Did you put the engine and tranny in as a unit? If so you have to have an engine or frame mount wrong. Good luck.:)

i was swaping out the motor mounts because i put mustang ones in and they didnt fit so i bought maverick ones. the motor and tranny never came out or apart. but i will check thnx for the suggestion. i ahve the frame mounts so the hump is towards the rear and the one with the R is on the right. i bought a new pair of motor mounts so i will try them on tomarrow to see if i got the wrong ones.

Good luck. What brand were the mounts? i just bought one from Autozone. It was a DEA brand. Spent 4 1/2 hours trying to get it in and found out the bolt holes were wrong. :)

The ones that worked best for me were the Anchor #2316. I got them from NAPA.

you must have a frame stand in wrong or its incorrect for your application.Or you still have the wrong mounts.

Loosen all the mounting bolts. Every frame stand, engine mount, and tranny mount bolt has a bit of play. Loosen them all, without removing, that just might allow it all to settle into place. If you have all the right mounts, it's worth a try.
