if your going for a 'standard rotation' pump then they're correct, which means ur gonna be running a V-belt... correct?
But the one on the right is on my motor now and that is the serpentine timing chain cover one. The one on the right is for v-belt. Did they make a 289 sepentine setup?
It won't work. The water pump inlet is on the Passenger side of the car on a 289. The Timingtab & marks on the damper are on the Driver side. This is TOTALLY opposite of what you need.
The timing cover you have will accomodate a standard rotation pump. You just can't check the oil or have a mechanical fuel pump.
You can always put it on ebay. It'll work on the early Mustangs & other Fords. Somebody might buy it.
No, remember the other night when I went to my shop & checked both covers? Then the other guy sent you a photo. I told you the Mustang 5.0 cover was the same as the '72 Maverick cover. But, the seal went in from inside on the older one & in from the outside on the newer one. The newer one has no dipstick or fuel pump eccentric.
Dave, there is another aluminum body water pump other than the old 60's unit. And it fits the std late 60's to mid 80's timing cover. You want a late 88-up pump for a Crown Vic. The one on the 331 in my Comet is one of these pumps.(see my pics) Bought it at Advance Auto. The pre mid 88 pumps for the Vic are iron cased.
