1980's 302 + T-5?

    If you ever decide to swap heads on the short block, those pistons will have to go. Bigger cams are OK with the E6SE headed short block, as long as the E6 heads are kept. The reason the pistons do not have valve reliefs in these 5.0's is that the chambers are deeper and the valve seats are 1/8" deeper in the head than all other SBF head castings.

    baddad , thanks for the info ,i,m sitting on 3 of those 86 motors, (engines)they were only 100 bucks a piece , they all had the 86 heads and were from mustangs, given the age of this engine, if i ever redo it , new pistons /overbore will be the way to go and trash the heads too. right now the 100 dollar engine with a 50 dollar cam and new chain ,an oil pump works great. go fast for cheap, what hot roddin is supposed to be . ron

    I thought I'd throw that in about the heads, not many know about the chamber depth in them being unique.

    I think the HP and torque will be pretty close to what they were with the F.I.

    The difference being that the F.I. motor constantly tunes your car to the current air temp and density. If all the sensors are working right it's like a carb that keeps re-jetting itself to the current conditions. Carbs cant do that so they tend to run a little rich/lean when air density changes from high altitude or just hot days to cold days. Fuel injectors usually atomize the fuel better at low RPM and make a little more power there.

    However F.I. is more expensive so I run a carb :) The difference based on what I've read is usually less than 10 HP.
