i decided to go ahead and build that 71 comet

i just painted the body and mocked it up. im having trouble deciding if i should keep the scoop or expose the tunnle ram'd boss 429, interior color, and if i should black out the tail panel. if i can get come GT decals i'll black out the scoop too to add to the theme

im going to bare metal foil all of the stock trim so it should look really good when im done!

i almost feel like this thing needs a carbon fiber hood lol

Yea that is... an ungodly big scoop for the scale size of what the car would be... Looks like it would hinder more then help... But nice other then the scoop...

    Edit

    Are those Dragon Decals?! Seriously?!

ya, i dont think those decals are getting anywhere near this thing. and everyone else seems to be in agreement about the scoop so i dont think im going to use it. im still annoyed at the fact that the kit doesnt come with a flat hood without the hole punched in it. im going to see what kind of smaller resin scoops are out there

Well if you are a skilled Model builder... or just have ALOT of patience, you could cut the scoop down... like cut it right under where the hole is or like half the size of the actual hole on the scoop with an exacto knife or razor *again patience because you'll have to score it many times and get the measurement right on both sides* then use a small but solid amount of the plastic bond to attach it to the hood

Lookin' good, and like everyone else ... the scoop has to go.

If you want to cut it down, one of the best tools out there is at Harbor Freight. It is call the "5-1 Hobby Tool" sku #38593. Basically it is a woodburning pencil/soldering iron that also comes with an X-acto knife tip ... excellent for cutting plastics. Just take your time and don't go too deep on the blade, or it just melts it. These kits can be had there for $5 on sale, $10 everyday. :thumbs2:

I built a Comet model many years ago from the same kit. I cut the top off the hood scoop and sanded it down to the correct size and glued it on. I still have the model. It still looks good. It is black with silver stripes. Hand made stripes from pin stripe tape. It has a mustang frame with a small block engine.
