Even though this tree in our yard is a Red Oak, it doesn't turn this red every year. (In fact, the pictures don't do it justice). We had a good cold snap in November which apparently helped out. I was putting up Christmas decorations and lights yesterday, and realized how neat it looked! [Of course not all the lights worked]! Happy Holidays Everyone!
You just wanted to show off those two nice looking Mavericks parked there in front of the house.....Didn't you ?? Come on Doug you know that was what you had in mind..... I don't think I have seen those two on your website are they relatively new??
Very cool pictures, Doug. We have a red oak in our backyard that is well over 100 years old. It's so old the leaves no longer turn red in the fall. They turn a less than pretty shade of brown, but the saplings from this oak all turn a brilliant red. Did your oak put out a lot of acorns this year? Ours dropped thousands of them, but the oaks back in the woods didn't have any at all.
Same tree I have in my front yard, and about the same size. Only mine lost all of it's leaves during Hurricane IKE...
Dennis: Those are my daily drivers. The 4-door I've had for almost six years. It really is old faithful. Put almost 30,000 miles on that one. The red Grabber was once owned by "GPZ1100" (Jack Sherman) of Beaumont, TX and then by "Tomm's 73" of Temple, TX, who spent a year in Iraq and two years in Korea. Jean: The tree dropped some nuts, but not too many. We've had an extremely dry 20 months, so that might be why. There are 4 inch wide cracks that are at least 2 feet deep in the alley. Bailey our dog fell into one the other night. (Well, dropped a leg into one). lol
