Well gang the yonkers sprint underwent exploratory surgery today.
Let me splain it... Had a chrome oil pan on it with the dipstick tube on the left front, bad spot cant put a dip stick in the engine(hits the oil pump on the way in)no dipstick hole in front cover either soo...
I pulled em off today and discovered a gear drive and a pool of assembly lube on the bottom of the pan(and yes, the gear drive was in place between the cam and crank). Also it looks like it has brand new Forged pistons in it.Spot faced connecting rods as opposed to the regular straight cut ones for the rod bolt heads.I didnt measure em but it looks like 3/8ths rod bolts. The rods are ford peices(they have the "Ford"oval stamp on the big end caps). It looks like a stock crank is in it(will look further tomorrow)this thing has a pretty lumpy idle soo I may degree the cam and check lift specs and all that tomorrow if I have time.Gonna pull the intake too and see if this block is a roller block or not(I figure its not)It is an 80'sblock so maybe...will post pics tomorrow night after its buttoned up and stowed away for the winter.I was pleasantly surprised though to find a gear drive and spot faced rods. The gear drive is pretty darn quiet on this thing,I wasnt expecting to find it since I couldnt hear it while the beast was running.Well more to come tomorrow...:burnout:

2 hrs to take it apart and 8 to put it together

:rofl2: like the title says.Had to take care of a few wrongly done things while putting it together(didnt know where to stop either).Sheesh I hate swap gorillas  Discovered a few things that will have to be addressed when I actually jump on this thing and do a ground up restification.(expected most of it) Needs front end parts(ALL)
needs rear shock mount repair(Duh) That 351 obviously will have to come out for the tower shave.Etc...Gotta get a better camera too, darn thing took pics of the pistons/rods/crank/gear drive and so on... but surprise!! when I loaded the pics onto the computer, Piston/rods/oil pump and crank pics are suddenly gone!!! Gremlins I guess.Oh did I mention that some people shouldnt be allowed near automotive electrical.(I aint even gonna go there) What a mess!!! oh well its all good.Oh heres the pics that did survive the pic gremlins.
#1. Low and behold... the gear drive.
    #2.parts that were replaced
#3.late model timing pointer on 69 front cover(had to fab a couple spacers)
#4.When useing a gear drive with Idler/driven gears you have to cut the oil drip rail off the inside of the cover.
PS: Any one want a chrome oil pan for a 351-W???

I do! I do! Need a front sumper, figure I can address the 'issue' of the dipstick as long as that's all that's wrong with it....
