Clutches (Which brand to buy)

    One of these day's I need to replace my clutch, in the mav, it has a 3-speed on the floor and .302, would appreciate any suggestions on the best brand, just looking for a standard clutch, that will last awhile, the one in it is basically down to it's last adjustment the mechanic say's, also does any one elses kick in near the top when releasing the clutch or the bottom what is normal?:mad:

    If it's kicking in near the top, it's getting close. I just use the Autozone stock replacement. Actually, as i recall, they don't have the stock maverick replacement, so i used one off of a '79 Ford Mustang. I have a T-5 so it might be different, but it might work on yours.

    I have a CenterForce Gold. It's a diaphram type that directly replaces the old Long style. Less pedal effort and about 30% more holding power.

    When I bought my 71 years ago (170), it also needed a clutch. As I recall I had a hard time finding one. I wanted a new one but had to settle for remanufactured. It works ok but it still chatters from a dead stop. I've never had any luck with remanufactured clutches with chattering. Other than that, they grab and wear fine. I always have my flywheel turned and replace pilot and throw out bearings when I replace a clutch.

    Luk clutches are really good. Can you get one for a Maverick/Comet?
