    im putting a 302 in a 1970 mav. besides frame saddles mounts do i need to put a under motor cross member in ???? help

    theres a "belly bar" that ties the 2 frame rails together but it doesnt play any part in mounting the motor, trans or anything else. most here believe it to be "optional"

    Yes, you can mount the V-8 with no problem without the belly bar, but it's kind of like the shock tower braces, do you want to drive without it? I can't answer this and I know its an ongoing discussion. :hmmm: IMO, if Ford installed it, they had a reason - and it must have been important since they were careful with how much weight they added to these cars.
