I was out and about with a customer today, and at a rural intersection I glanced to my right to see a beige '73 Maverick coming my way. It looked clean from a distance despite the dull color. As it passed I almost missed the driver while checking out the car. It had the body side mouldings, flat dog dishes and whitewalls. Matching beige interior, and the paint shined! The driver? Just picture the little old lady from Pasadena in that Beach Boys song who drove the 'shiny red super stock Dodge'! She had her hair up in a bun-apparently dyed black. She had some sort of comb with flowers holding it up. She wore a flowered dress with a crocheted white shawl around her shoulders. I was able to get beside and behind her several times to check out both her and the car as she slowly made her way across town. She had been in some sort of mishap with the rear gravel pan and license plate-a plate that read '73MAVRIK'. Kinda strange for a little ole' lady, I thought. The car looked very very clean and straight except for the 1 dent. I thought about her quite a bit over the next few miles. I wondered if she was the original owner. I appreciated how proud she was of her little Maverick. Maybe that was the only car that she had ever owned. Maybe the only new car. Maybe she was a widow, and it belonged to her late husband. I may never know. Either way, she drove it with care and confidence. Seth
That's kinda cool, to bad you didn't get some random pictures which are really neat to see from time to time.
We have one of those little old ladies driving a yellow big bumper Comet around my house. I see her parked across the street from the nearby church almost every Sunday. I had the same thoughts wondering if she was the original owner etc... This car always catches my eye because it looks just like the one my old high school girl friend drove back when these cars were new (yea I'm that old). A couple of months ago I seen her in a shopping center parking lot. The best part was as she turned the corner, she was passed by a white Maverick going the other directions. Two of our cars caught in the wild. T
Little Old Lady You young fellers are making me feel old. I just looked in the mirror and discovered, I am old! Texasjack
