My 74 maverick has been running great for a while now but suddenly today on the way to work it started stuttering, it was really struggling to keep a constant speed of about 65. I pulled over check under the hood, everything looked ok.
However on the way home it did the same thing, got up to about 55 and started stuttering. As if it wasn't getting enough air or fuel it seemed. Well I was able to get home going about 30, which it had no problem doing, but once you hit about 55 its start stuttering again. Enough to be obvious but not enough to kill the engine. A friend of mine said the choke in the carb could be sticking, however it is a brand new carb installed about 3 weeks ago. I dont know what it could be, any suggestions?
I would also point out that it snowed about a foot last night and has been cold, Although I did warm it up in the morning I did not after my lunch break or on the way home when it started having the problems, it had only been sitting for about an hour or two.

Any help would be appreciated, thank you very much.

yup. you confirmed it, im an idiot. For some reason I thought it had to bit more complicated than that, but sure enough, it was infact, my fuel filter.

    Thank you.

had the exact problem today. warmed it in morning but on way home from work i only let it warm a couple of minutes. (anxious to get out of there i guess).....so it sputtered and stalled. i pulled over and got it running again only to have it do the same a few minutes down the road. i just replaced the fuel filter just over a month ago. (also the weather here in toronto area just recently began staying around or below freezing consistantly)

    any help would be great.

(also, im storing it soon but would like to know why it is doing this)

    thanks!
