just like johny cash sang "one piece at a time" i've pretty much based my maverick off that song and its come a long ways
lol so i could lower the front end of it but not the back or is there a way to lower the back as well?
Best way to lower the back is to have the springs de-arched.You could also use lowering blocks if you have to.
mavman your a genius you know everything lol. the dearching sounds like something i cannot do myself or can i? which ones better sounds like the de arching to me or am i completely wrong?
man that 6 banger is sshhhhweeeeet! also, relocating the upper control arm in the front is....drilling the two upper A arm mount holes one inch lower. its an old shelby trick used on the mustangs. if you dont know what this is and you know nothing about suspension this is not something you would be doing yourself. you could have it professionaly done.
hey would these be good? what do you guys think http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KYB-...ptZMotorsQ5fCarQ5fTruckQ5fPartsQ5fAccessories
those are the type you want. kyb gas-ad-just. but the ones you are looking at are for a mopar. you can get front ones for an early mustang. 60s-70s but the back ones are maverick specific.
No you cannot de-arch the leafs your self...take em to a spring shop. For you lowering blocks would be your best bet(I prefer de-arching.. its a better method)I wish I knew everything..LOL...lots of guys here with more knowledge and experience than me.I can hold my own though.
I lowered mine in front by cutting off 1 ring of the coil, dropped it about 2.5". Put 1" lowering blocks on the rear. 17" wheels with very low profile tires,, handles much better in turns and rides as well as ever, however, I must point out I worked with a low mileage (16K original miles) car. Dan
hey dan thanks for the info i was kinda wondering about how much i should cut and one coil sounds good. Just what is the difference in performance or in general in getting them de-arched or just adding a lowing block?
so i should only get like mustang shocks for the front? and then i have to get the specific maverick ones for the rear? that sucks lol do you know where i can find the maverick ones for the rear i cant seem to find them....i can only find the like 64-70 mustang front shocks
you can get lowering blocks just about anywhere. even ebay. lowering blocks and lift blocks are the same thing. if your axle is monted above the leaf spring, like mavericks and mustangs. putting a block between the axle and spring will lower the car. axle mounted bellow the spring, as in some trucks, the block will lift the vehicle. a 1 inch block will lower or lift 1 inch. if your drag racing or driving very hard i would dearch or buy springs with relocated eyes. the blocks can increase wheel hop. but for just looks and normal driving the blocks are cheep and effective. make sure you get a block kit that has u bolts that will fit your rear housing diameter. the front kyb gas-adjust i have seen on ebay also. im thinking of getting some. i just told you to search mustang front shocks because more people list them to fit mustang than maverick. they are the same shock. but the rear has to be just for a maverick. the top mount is different.
ive been reading alot on cutting the coils and alot of ppl say its horrible and causes a worst ride lol? is that true or do i need to do something else in addition to cutting the coils?
