Well every time I am ready to start interior work, LOL Seems something comes up. When I put the Mav in gear, I can hear/feel a "clunk" the transmisson is a c4 and has less than 1000 miles on it. The "clunk" feels as tho it is coming from the back of the car. I am thinking to replace the U joints. But wanted an oppion before I do. From the drive shaft back we havent touched a thing so far. And if ya'll do belive it is the u-joints is there anything else I should do, while the shaft is out?
Not to sound like an idiot, but from the shaft to the rear-end I am all but clueless on. :bananaman

Its either a U joint or your rear gears are worn enough that the back lash is too great. Easiest way to tell is to put the rear up on a set of jackstands and crawl under there and look. Set your parking brake, keep the trans in park, and forcefully move the drive shaft back and forth. If the u joint is bad, you will see the play in it. If there is no play in the u joint, and the drive shaft moves considerably, probably the gears are worn.

    Thanks Dennins

Well Thanks for the info. Well, about all I can realy say about the situation is..........Looks like a good time to install a pos rear end LOL. I did not have to be forceful at all. The U joints did not move, but everything else damn sure did!!! Well Ive been wanting to put on pos traction anyways, so it looks like as good as time as any.
